Abstract

This volume is a report on the proceedings of an Institute on Mentally Impaired Aged held at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center in 1964. At this point this interviewer is a bit chagrined at the vast number of proceedings of various seminars and institutes being published for the dissemination of information and for better communication. My feeling is that we are not at the present suffering from a lack of communicated written information but rather from a deluge of it, which precludes the reading of it because of time limitation and eye strain and thus vitiates the desired effects.

However, overcoming a personal bias, I hasten to state that this is a highly readable volume consisting of four formal presentations followed by discussion by the inevitable eminent panelists and group assembled. The papers ranged from the varieties of brain syndrome in the elderly to the
