This is a sober "no-nonsense" text on clinical psychiatry of the later years by a serious investigator in the field who states that, "this book was written primarily to satisfy its author's needs." Dr. Post's impatience with the flood of literature on the problems of old age becomes apparent and is understandable. His great experience in the field drove him to formulate his thoughts for others and himself. For he evidently holds with many of us that the only way to know what one thinks is to put it down in writing. To geriatricians, Dr. Post is no novice in clinical experience, investigation, reporting, and teaching. His book therefore will exert considerable influence abroad and in the States.
