Abstract

The marriage relationship is a matter of great concern to psychotherapists in their work with patients since the psychopathology of many patients leads to marital conflicts and family instability. The method of treating marital conflicts varies considerably with the orientation and the skill of the therapist. However the individual reader may approach these problems, this volume of essays sponsored by the Society of Medical Psychoanalysts provides an interesting and informative perspective on numerous aspects of the marital relationship, particularly as they are involved in the theories and practices of psychoanalysts.

Each of the 25 contributing authors pre sumably is an analyst, and the analytic viewpoint appears to be basic to each paper and to the entire book.
