Abstract

This study reevaluated the previously reported relationship between the A-B factor and the field dependent—field independent dimension. Two groups were tested; one consisting of 32 therapists and the other of 26 patients on an inpatient treatment ward. The results showed no support for the above-mentioned relationship. The various factors accounting for such a discrepancy were discussed. The possibility of combining the two dimensions in research of the psychotherapy process and outcome was explored.
