This article1 and many others suggest that the number of cases needed to achieve mastery in HALS is 105.24 These studies face a number of limitations in their approach including different demographics of the study population, the age of the operating surgeon as well as his or her surgical experience, and the varying difficulty of the operations themselves.5,6
