We take issue with Dr Leber's article, "Long-term Complications Associated With Prosthetic Repair of Incisional Hernias,"1 particularly with the admonition regarding the use of multifilamented polyester mesh (Mersilene, Ethicon Inc, Somerville, NJ) for incisional hernia repair. He concludes that polyester mesh should no longer be used for incisional hernia repair. To the contrary, our experience in using extraperitoneal multifilamented polyester mesh grafts has been most successful. We have had to deal with some complications following surgery, but not due to the mesh per se.
