Succus Entericus Reinfusion to Treat Postoperative Small-Bowel Fistula

Arch Surg. 2002;137(12):1446. doi:

They are to be congratulated on their excellent results in treating patients with postoperative peritonitis secondary to proximal small-bowel injury. Although the concept of reinfusing enteral fluid to replace electrolytes and provide a route for nutrition has not found wide acceptance, it has important applications beyond tertiary institutes in London, England, Paris, France, and New York, NY.
