In this issue of JAMA Surgery, we would like to thank and acknowledge the 263 peer reviewers who reviewed manuscripts for JAMA Surgery in 2014. We greatly appreciate the thoughtfulness, insight, and expertise that the reviewers provided, as well as the time they took to conduct these reviews. The peer-review process is indispensable to the success of JAMA Surgery.

We would also like to thank the authors who submitted manuscripts for consideration for publication in JAMA Surgery. In 2014, we received a total of 1208 manuscripts, of which 844 were Original Investigations, 62 were Research Letters, 58 were Viewpoints, and 60 were Clinical Challenges (Table). The remainder included Special Communications, Reviews, Letters to the Editor, Letters in Reply, Invited Commentaries, and Editorials. We know there are many journals to which authors can submit their work, and we are honored that so many authors chose to submit their high-quality research to JAMA Surgery. In recognition of this, the 2013 impact factor was 4.3, ranking JAMA Surgery 11th among all 204 surgical journals. Our h5-index is 55, ranking JAMA Surgery in eighth place.
