To the Editor Go et al1 have done a careful analysis of a national database cataloguing the inpatient costs and morbidity rates after pancreaticoduodenectomy analyzed according to hospital safety-net burden. They conclude that redirecting patients away from hospitals with a high safety-net burden to those with lower proportions of Medicaid patients would reduce the cost of care.
