The Parkland Trauma Handbook is written by surgery residents for surgery residents. It includes core information on the fundamental care of the injured trauma patient, from initial assessment to the management of critical care issues. The second edition has 16 fewer chapters and is more condensed and concise than the first. Each chapter is arranged in an easy-to-read format with a closing section titled "Pearls and Pitfalls" that emphasizes the most important aspects of the subject matter. The black-and-white illustrations are well done and appropriate.
