The fifth edition of General Thoracic Surgery consists of 2 volumes divided into 29 sections and 190 chapters. It has 213 contributors with very few residents or fellows and a star-studded list of general thoracic surgeons from across the country. There are 54 new chapters with an emphasis on the basic sciences, diagnostic methodologies, and surgical technique. Many chapters from the previous edition have been rewritten by new authors. Retained authors have extensively rewritten previous chapters. The book provides a comprehensive account of current knowledge in all aspects of general thoracic surgery.
