This is a concise presentation of surgical diseases affecting the chest. It includes an anatomic description of the normal chest, and line drawings and roentgenograms are usefully used to illustrate each of the subjects discussed. These range from trauma and inflammatory lesions to tumors and include also the fundamental treatment of acquired and congenital diseases of the heart and greater vessels. Surgical treatment of diseases of the esophagus and diaphragm is also discussed. An excellent précis.
