Since I stood before you a year ago, I have learned more of the wise and noble fellows who founded our association and the rich legacy that we have received from them. In reviewing the history of the association I found especially interesting the important role that Nebraska men have played in its proceedings.

The Indian tribes of the West followed the custom, when holding a big powwow, of having one of the chiefs narrate the exploits of outstanding braves of the past to stimulate the younger members to still greater achievements and thus maintain the traditions and honor of the tribe. I hope that I may accomplish this to some extent.
