Dogs were prepared each with a Heidenhain pouch and with a vagusdenervated, isolated antrum pouch. Acid production in response to simultaneous stimulation of the intestinal phase of gastric secretion by feeding, and the antral phase by irrigation of the antrum with a solution of acetylcholine was sufficiently greater than the sum of that caused by their individual stimulations, to suggest potentiation of the two mechanisms.
