These two volumes are a partial representation of the Proceedings of the First International Symposium on Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Face and Neck, held in New York City in 1970.
The spectrum of topics covered by the 180 contributors is enormous, with "no attempt at deep penetration for profundity but an aim at broad coverage." While this approach has the advantage of providing information on many subjects, the obvious disadvantages are unevenness and superficiality. In spite of those faults, these books deserve reading, because they contain much of special value to those engaged in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.
The illustrations are good; the index could have been better.
