The editorial office for the Archives has moved from Longwood Avenue in Brookline, Mass, down the Wilbur Cross Parkway, past the tables down at Mory's and the place where Louie dwells, to box 7614, Kilby Station, New Haven, Conn. The significance of this move is the retirement of Dr Richard Warren, the chief editor who guided and developed the Archives through an arduous time. Certainly, he has earned the privileges of retirement. As is the tradition with the Archives of Surgery, someone from the Editorial Board was tapped to carry on. I have agreed to accept this responsibility with feelings of awe and trepidation for wha is required in this capacity. In a delightful editorial entitled "Oh, Editores—Ave Atque Vale,"1 Franz Ingelfinger, the retiring editor of The New England Journal of Medicine, stated that "the new one (editor), as he takes over, usually issues a manifesto of lofty purposes."
