This is the long-awaited third monograph from the Groupe d'Etude de la Main. The first two were published more than five years ago; the present volume is an excellent translation of the first edition, published in French in 1975.
The injuries are categorized well in the initial chapter, with emphasis placed on coverage and restoration of function of the various parts of the hands. The authors are internationally known, authoritative, and have made a very comprehensive review of this specific subject. The editing is excellent; although the book is a collection of 25 papers on the various subjects, it reads as a monograph. The photographic reproduction is excellent, and each chapter is outlined from a clinical and technical point of view. In almost every section, the operative techniques are outlined clearly and illustrated. In many of the chapters, excellent discussions of indications for various operative procedures are given.
