This is an additional section to the now comprehensive series of profusely illustrated texts categorized by surgical specialties. It is designed to provide qualified specialists with operative details of how an acknowledged clinical master in the field approaches a specific lesion in the operating room. This volume, like its earlier installments and editions in other surgical specialties, relies heavily on photographs, diagrams, and descriptions of technical details.
Installments III and IV of this neurosurgical volume are excellent descriptions by recognized authorities who usually include a brief history of the operative therapy and the indications for the operation. Occasionally, the results for the operation are given or the recent literature is cited clearly for obtaining these results.
Individual operations favored by these authors are described with such clarity that they can be followed easily by experienced neurosurgeons or those in training. The appropriate precautions are stressed by Dr Benjamin in his
