Spectacular! The surgical atlas produced by Drs Crawford and Crawford and illustrated by Perrins Sparks Smith is an outstanding contribution to the vascular surgical literature. Unlike the many surgical atlases that attempt to describe all of vascular surgery, this book deals solely with diseases of the aorta and their surgical treatment. The book is composed of 12 chapters that cover the broad spectrum of aortic diseases from degenerative aneurysms to aortic dissections, Marfan's disease, coarctations, redo aortic surgeries, aortitis, trauma, and aortic tumors. Each chapter is organized in a similar fashion, beginning with the pathophysiology of the disease, followed by clinical manifestations, diagnosis, preoperative evaluation, the history of surgical treatment, and the current surgical management. At the conclusion of each section, Dr E. Stanley Crawford describes his immense personal experience with the disease. Here he gives the nuances of his surgical techniques and management. Since each patient's disease is individual,
