Every few years, a new book comes along that is obviously destined to be a classic as soon as it appears. This is one such book. It contains just about all a surgeon will want to know about diagnostic and operative problems of the gallbladder and bile ducts. Its very narrow focus reflects editorial sophistication. There is no distraction with peripheral topics. The authors, from around the world, were chosen for both their clinical expertise and their ability to write, summarize, reference, and provide mature, sensible commentaries.
