The second edition of Vascular Disorders of the Upper Extremity, compiled by Herbert I. Machleder, MD, is an important contribution to the expanding library of high-quality vascular surgical texts. Focused almost entirely on arterial and venous disorders of the upper extremity, this small volume presents in considerable detail the clinical presentation, diagnostic techniques, and therapeutic approaches to almost the full range of common and uncommon conditions affecting that limb. The editor assembled the text from contributions by a number of well-qualified authors, most of whom have provided a comprehensive, authoritative treatment of their assigned material. As a result, the information presented is timely, organized, and generally well edited, with few typographic errors or contradictions.
There is disagreement evident among the various authors on the proper performance of Adson's maneuver, reflecting the confusion that exists among the medical community at large. A resource of this type, however, should undertake to correct
