New Editorial Board Members Announcement

The Archives is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished surgeons James W. Fleshman Jr, MD; Karen D. Horvath, MD; and Eric K. Nakakura, MD, PhD, to our Editorial Board.

James W. Fleshman Jr, MD, received his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, Missouri, and completed his surgical residency at the same institution. He completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr Fleshman is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is presently the chief of the section of colon and rectal surgery and professor of surgery at Washington University and specializes in the laparoscopic treatment of colorectal cancer.

James W. Fleshman Jr, MD

Karen D. Horvath, MD, received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and completed her residency in general surgery at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. She completed a research fellowship in colorectal surgery and clinical fellowships in surgical critical care and laparoscopic surgery. Dr Horvath is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is presently a professor of surgery, residency program director, and associate chair for education in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She specializes in the surgical management of necrotizing pancreatitis.

Karen D. Horvath, MD

Eric K. Nakakura, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from Stanford University and completed his residency in general surgery at Johns Hopkins University. He was conferred a PhD degree in the field of cellular and molecular medicine from Johns Hopkins University and completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at the same institution. Dr Nakakura is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is presently an associate professor of surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr Nakakura is a surgical oncologist who specializes in gastrointestinal cancers and soft tissue sarcomas.
