Abstract

This is the fourth edition of this volume, the editors of which have devoted a lifetime to clinical and experimental thyroidology. With the invention of an ever-increasing number of scientific tools uniquely applicable to the study of the thyroid, the understanding of the normal and pathological physiology of the thyroid has grown rapidly since the third edition was published in 1971.
