Abstract

• Exposure of malignant tumors in the lower area of the retroperitoneum, abdominal wall, and wall of the pelvis may be provided through the use of a lower midline incision extending at the inferior end transversely to the ipsilateral femoral vessels and vertically in the femoral triangle. The ipsilateral rectus is divided near its origin and the inguinal ligament is divided near the pubic tubercle. Following ligation and division of the inferior deep epigastric vessels, full exposure in this area is provided. The lower portion of the abdominal wall may be replaced by mesh if necessary.
