Abstract

THE THOMAS WILLIAM SALMON MEMORIAL  The Honorable George W. Wickersham announces the establishment of the Thomas William Salmon Memorial to provide recognition for the scientist who has made the greatest contribution in the fight against mental disease during each year. Awards are to be national and international and will provide for the wider dissemination of the knowledge of mental hygiene and insanity, through cooperation with the New York Academy of Medicine, in whose hands the administration of the $100,000 fund is to be placed.The plan provides for a series of lectures to be given in various cities of the United States under the auspices of accredited scientific, medical or educational organizations. Provision will also be made for the publication and distribution of the lectures from year to year.The Memorial provides freedom from academic or institutional restriction of any kind and is intended to stimulate unrestrained research, study and
