In attempting a thorough general review of the literature for the purpose of showing the influence of psychoanalysis as one of the scientific approaches to understanding of personality, the authors found it rather difficult to present the subject in a comprehensive and efficient manner and this book is the result. It is an excellent presentation of the whole system of discoveries, technic and theories of psychoanalysis. The value of the work consists in the completeness of its presentation and in the fact that it gives a logical orderliness to psychoanalytic development and thought. A rather unusual method of presentation is utilized. On the left hand pages the basic concepts, chiefly of Freud and his followers, are presented. On the right hand are the elaborations, corroborations and divergencies. There are no comments. The book will serve very well as an introduction to the study of psychoanalysis.
