ANNOUNCEMENTS 

The American Academy of Neurological Surgery Award.—  The American Academy of Neurological Surgery announces its second annual award. This award is intended as an incentive to research by younger neurosurgeons during or immediately following their formal training. It is given for the best paper submitted reporting original clinical or laboratory research pertaining to the nervous system for which the author has had the principal responsibility. Eligibility is confined to doctors of medicine currently in training in neurological surgery or who have completed their training since June 30, 1954. Those who have been certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery; are Fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons, Canada, subspecialty neurosurgery, or have other equivalent certification are not eligible. The paper shall not have been accepted for publication in any journal, but may have been submitted as a thesis for a degree. When subsequently published, it shall carry the
