To the Editor: While the vaccines described
in the article by Dr Jefferson1 are new,
the method for administering deltoid injections is not. I was therefore surprised
that the photograph in this article showed the clinician administering the
vaccine not wearing gloves. Furthermore, the surprisingly calm patient is
lending a "helping hand" to hold up his shirt sleeve. This "helping hand"
is dangerously near the needle's path and is, therefore, ill-advised. In light
of these 2 objections, the illustration should be updated to reflect proper
