To the Editor: Dr Tice and colleagues1 concluded that grain fortification with folic acid
and cyanocobalmin would be cost-effective, and even cost-saving, in reducing
the risk of primary and secondary heart disease in the US population. However,
2 statements by the authors raise serious issues regarding the appropriate
policy application of their findings.
