To the Editor: Dr Margolin and colleagues1 found that acupuncture was ineffective for the
treatment of cocaine addiction. Having discussed the clinical protocol for
the NADA detox procedures with numerous NADA-trained practitioners, I find
2 consistent procedural shortcomings that may lead to inconsistent findings
in clinical efficacy, such as the results of the prior study published by
Frank BL. Acupuncture for the Treatment of Cocaine Addiction. JAMA. 2002;287(14):1800–1802. doi:10.1001/jama.287.14.1799
