This ambitious overview of clinical cardiology by Gabriel Adelmann succeeds in its self-assigned task of including classical teaching as well as cutting-edge developments. Adelmann has an impressive breadth of knowledge and clinical expertise and writes in a style both precise and engaging.
Each of the 12 chapters includes a bibliography consisting of current guidelines applicable to the specific topic covered in the chapter as well as suggested readings. An exceptionally helpful glossary of abbreviations is provided. The comprehensive index enables the book to serve as a handy reference when specific questions arise (although reading this book in its entirety is arguably more enjoyable than reading many comparable reference texts or the original studies cited).
