To the Editor: The article by Dr Davis and colleagues1 seems intent on demonstrating that environmental pollutants are to blame for a decreased male-to-female birth ratio observed lately in industrialized countries. The argument is essentially predicated on the observation that, in various circumstances, women exposed to high levels of pesticides, solvents, and other suspect agents exhibit lower sex ratios.
