Ethamivan, a central nervous system stimulant and analeptic is essentially similar in action to the other drugs in this class. It is claimed to possess some clinical usefulness as an adjunctive agent in the treatment of severe respiratory depression secondary to barbiturate poisoning and carbon dioxide narcosis.
