The John Horsley Memorial Prize for medical research has been awarded to Maj Munsey S. Wheby of Puerto Rico for studies of the metabolism of iron. Wheby has served since 1959 with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Medical Research and is now stationed in Puerto Rico with the institute's Tropical Research Medical Laboratory conducting research on nutrition and blood disorders.The Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania has received a $510,000 grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation to strengthen and revitalize WMC's departments of physiology, anatomy, psychiatry and pediatrics through faculty expansion and salary support for basic and clinical sciences, and funds for rehabilitation and new equipment for basic sciences. The improvement will extend over the five year period of the grant.A seven-year grant totalling $334,-285 has been awarded to the University of Oregon Medical School by the National Cancer Institute to be used for studying
