Abstract

The authors state in the preface that their aim is to be helpful to the senior student and at the same time useful to the D.C.H. candidates, surgeons, and the general practitioners. They have accomplished this fully. This book is highly commendable for its lucid clarity in the handling of the surgical disease entities in the pediatric age group. The discussions are brief, to the point, nonrepetitious, and presented with thought.

The reference list after every chapter is modest, but well chosen and easily available in any medical library. The book is studded with very communicative diagrams, pictures and colored plates. This treatise should be found in the library of the persons for whom it is intended and will interest any surgeon who plans to write "Essentials" in the future.
