The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is creating new opportunities for external researchers to take advantage of resources at its clinical research hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Previously, the Clinical Research Center and its resources were open only to researchers who were part of the NIH's Intramural Research Program. But the Scientific Management Review Board, a group Congress has charged with reviewing the organization of the NIH, recommended that Clinical Research Center resources be made available to outside researchers.
