Reducing Residency Shortage

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has endorsed a bill that would expand the number of residency training positions supported by Medicare by 15 000 slots. The “Resident Physician Shortage Reduction and Graduate Medical Education Accountability and Transparency Act” (HR 6352 [http://thomas.loc.gov]) was introduced in the House August 2 by Rep Aaron Schock (R, Ill) and Rep Allyson Schwartz (D, Pa).
