A new form of Salmonella that is causing deadly invasive nontyphoidal salmonella (iNTS) disease throughout sub-Saharan Africa seems to be facilitated by the HIV epidemic and the bacteria's acquisition of drug-resistance genes, according to a report from an international team of researchers (Okoro CK et al.
