Among the approximately 130 papers presented, the topics range from experiments on cellular enzyme and organelle responses to gross clinical "die or recover" types of observation. An attempt was made to group the presentations into those dealing with the basic science aspects and the clinical subdivisions of various sorts; but, with much overlap, such categorization was of necessity rough.

The reader gets the impression that anyone who had anything at all to present was given the opportunity to do so. Such an open forum may be desirable in so new a field, but before long some preliminary screening will be necessary to conserve the audience's time and patience. The present volume of proceedings (and this is only the third such conference) already runs to almost 800 pages.

Workers in this field will need this volume. Others will find many items of interest. Future clinical applications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy appear
