In this age of stiff specialtyboard examinations and emphasis on postgraduate education, there is a great demand for refresher courses and for books reviewing both the fundamentals and the well-established clinical practices of the various specialties. Some of the courses, and most of the books, designed to meet this demand are nothing more than brief didactic synopses. This book, with almost 800 pages and some 150 well-chosen illustrations, however, is hardly a synopsis. It is, rather, a textbook reviewing in some detail all the accepted knowledge the clinician must understand in order to begin the practice of obstetrics and gynecology or to pass the specialty boards.
