In Reply In the patient we presented with disseminated cryptococcosis, itraconazole was chosen as the initial antifungal agent. Due to progressive deterioration of renal function and family problems, the patient discontinued the fluconazole therapy 3 months after discharge from our hospital and died of meningoencephalitis at a local hospital 1 month later. Although her family declined autopsy, we considered the possibility that her meningoencephalitis might have been attributable to disseminated cryptococcosis.
