To the Editor: Dr Bliwise and colleagues1 found that morning-shift hemodialysis was associated
with significantly longer survival than afternoon-shift dialysis. These findings
may lead patients to demand morning-shift dialysis in an already overburdened
system. Their conclusions, however, may have not accounted for several factors
that can differentiate morning- and afternoon-shift dialysis patients.
