Traumatology is defined as the study of wounds and injuries caused by accidents or violence to a person and the surgical therapy and repair of the damage. In Ocular Traumatology, editor Ferenc Kuhn focuses specifically on trauma to the eyeball; this is contrasted to “ophthalmic traumatology,” which he defines as trauma to the ocular adnexa. In formulating this text, Kuhn draws on his considerable hands-on experience in the field in addition to tapping into the expertise of 9 other ophthalmologists with experience in the treatment of ocular trauma.
