The successful first edition of this textbook was published in 2002. The second edition—succinctly focused on training programs in geriatrics—has been updated and expanded. The impressive list of physicians from the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia include the editors themselves, Gurcharan S. Rai of Whittington Hospital in London and Graham P. Mulley of St James's University Hospital in Leeds. Other well-known geriatric physicians include Roger M. Francis, Rowan H. Harwood, Christopher Patterson, and Kenneth Rockwood. Reflecting the needed multidisciplinary approach to geriatrics, other subspecialties are likewise represented, such as rehabilitation therapy, social work, ophthalmology, dentistry, psychiatry, nursing, podiatry, dermatology, and vascular surgery.
