Laura Coleman's goal in compiling and editing Nutrition and Rheumatic Disease is to provide clinicians with a comprehensive and current review so they are able to answer patients' many questions regarding the impact of diet and nutritional supplements on rheumatic diseases. Unfortunately, the collection—though an excellent compilation of the available literature—does not provide much more than the usual advice, ie, to eat a balanced diet and to exercise moderately. This is no fault of Coleman’s. The problem is her subject matter—a science in its infancy.
