Principles and Practice of Clinical Research

JAMA. 2008;300(10):1216-1217. doi:10.1001/jama.300.10.1216

Let me come right to the point. This is the most useful, well-written, and remarkably comprehensive book on clinical research that I have ever read, highly recommended for both beginners and experienced researchers. My life would have been immeasurably easier if this book were available 31 years ago, when I began conducting clinical studies. The editors are highly qualified: for the past 10 years, they have been offering a course on clinical research at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center to 1000 students annually. Gallin is the center's director, and Ognibene is the center's director of the Office of Clinical Research Training. Both are experienced researchers who have authored hundreds of research articles and invited manuscripts.
