Wounded Warriors

JAMA. 2008;300(14):1642. doi:10.1001/jama.300.14.1642-c

Rep Ike Skelton (D, Mo), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is encouraging the Army to employ “wounded warriors” in the training programs for new recruits.

In an August 7 letter to Gen William S. Wallace, commander of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Skelton suggested that those soldiers undergoing rehabilitation or those permanently disabled could offer recruits inspirational stories of their combat experience and add a new dimension to the education of the incoming soldiers. TRADOC recruits, trains, and educates the Army's soldiers.
