The National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine have released a new report that revises and updates clinical guidelines on how to responsibly conduct research with human stem cells (http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=12260). The guidelines, which were first published in 2005 to offer a set of ethical standards, were revised by the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee, which was established to monitor and review scientific advances as research in the field progresses.
