Accepting to review Diagnostic Histopathology of Tumors was a commitment to embarking on a journey through the fundamentals of surgical pathology. What a journey it has been.
Dr Fletcher has assembled an all-star cast of authors, all well recognized in their respective fields of expertise. These authors have produced skillfully written chapters based on organ or tissue type. All of the chapters are excellent resources for the general surgical pathologist. They are clearly written, with extensive current and classic references. Some of the chapters are simply superb. Many conclude with a practical review of the previous pages by presenting a problem-based approach to solving differential diagnoses, thereby increasing the practical value of the chapter contents. This approach is particularly effective in helping the reader solidify the readings into useful information.
