Federal programs responsible for oversight of medical products and assessment and control of toxic chemicals made the Government Accountability Office's (GAO’s) list of programs it judges to be at high risk for waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement or in need of broad-based transformation.
The list is released biennially at the start of each new Congress to help set oversight agendas. In total, 30 programs and operations are on the GAO list (http://www.gao.gov/docsearch/featured/highrisk.html).
